Opinion or Empathy?

I planned a different show for today but then, I had a little exchange with someone on social media. Not really a troll (as we know them) but nevertheless he got me thinking.

What is driving people to express their enormous displeasure or disagreement with someone else, on their OWN FB platform?  Why do they have a need to challenge everything someone says as their own truth is different? Why even after multiple kind attempts to respect his opinion, he goes on and on, with the need to mock and ridicule the other opinion because just HIS opinion is the right one?
The reason I felt compelled to address it here is that it wasn't even about my own opinion. It was about a friend's post, one I respect and admire.

Unlike the guy who nobody knows, she has the credentials and expertise to be talking about the subject. When does different opinion stop - and disrespect begins?

Why someone who claims to have achieved "inner peace" is compelled to argue on a public platform with no end? If he really did, I don't believe that exchange would be the same.

Yes, I got involved, in part to support my friend and her very kind and innocent post. It's a short episode, but one that's like a social experiment, addressing an exchange of opinions and how we may or may not have open minds about different perspectives of others.

I would love it if you reach out and give me your own take on this. I would love to know what you think!
